These 3-ingredient chocolate hazelnut bites are the bomb! Usually, when I have a sweet tooth craving I seek out a cookie. However, hubby is more of a brownie guy so I had him in mind when I created this recipe. I have to admit, these were so good I was fighting for the last bites with hubby. Well, fighting might be a strong word, maybe using my influence to steal the last bite. Well, steal might be the wrong word, maybe begging is better. And since I don’t do begging easily, you might imagine the results of this encounter.
Baking a big batch of brownies did not appeal to me, so I made this mini version. However, if you wanted to make a larger portion, the recipe can be easily doubled. This recipe makes about 20 bites, so I had enough to serve at a lunch for 4 people and still had a lot left over to snack on through the week. They have a rich flavor so a bite is enough.
Now comes the secret… hubby doesn’t like Nutella which is one of the three ingredients, but he loved these chocolate hazelnut bites. So don’t be afraid of Nutella if you haven’t used it before. And if you are not familiar with Nutella, here’s a bit about it:
Nutella is manufactured by the Italian company Ferrero and was first introduced in 1964. The main ingredients of Nutella are sugar and palm oil (greater than 50%). It also contains hazelnut at 13%, cocoa solids, and skimmed milk. The story goes, “After World War II, cocoa was extremely scarce. Pietro Ferrero, originally from Piedmont in Italy, turned this issue into a smart solution by creating a sweet paste made from hazelnuts, sugar, and just a little of the rare cocoa. The precursor to Nutella® was born!” [Source: https://www.nutella.com/us/en/inside-nutella/our-heritage]
So give it a try! It’s as easy to make as 1-2-3 ingredients!
If you are not a fan of Nutella, note that the chocolate flavor dominates with just a hint of hazelnut. Remember, these brownie bites are just “bite-sized.” They are so rich that one or two is plenty to satisfy a sweet tooth.
