Restaurants are very strategic in their marketing and often feature a yummy looking dessert on the front of the menu or as an insert before you even reach the main menu items. So the entire time you are looking through the meals offered, in the back of your mind, you are thinking about that yummy dessert that you saw (or is it just me that thinks this way?).
You probably know the saying, “Let’s start with dessert!” Well, today you can!
When I was perusing Facebook and checking out what my friends were doing, I noticed one friend Barb P. posted a breakfast banana split. What? A banana split for breakfast. I just had to try this one. There was no recipe posted so I thought I’d create my own. Here goes…..
Just a few simple ingredients go into making this fabulous banana split breakfast treat. If your banana is ripe (not as firm as you like), put it in the freezer for about 10-15 minutes before plating it with the rest of the ingredients.
I freeze berries from our garden so that I have access to them any time of year. Today’s berries are blackberries and blueberries, but you can mix it up to include your favorites.
Topping is grape nuts cereal. Use the cereal of your choice, or slivered almonds or granola.
Layer yogurt and berries on top of the banana.
The recipe can easily be doubled or tripled. Makes a great snack and yes, an easy tasty dessert if you can wait that long to make it and eat it.
The best part, it’s healthy. Oh wait, the best part is eating it!
