It’s October, my birthday month. I have a lot of friends who were born in October as well. And yes, we celebrate all month if we possibly can. Since we don’t all live in the same state, we share our birthday celebrations with each other each year and enjoy hearing how each of us has spent our special day.
The birthday meal is always a highlight. The usual conversations include, “Balsamic reduction sauce on lamb? Oh that sounds delicious, ” or “Herbaceous pork loin with hassleback potatoes, yum!”
Well this year, I decided to step out-of-the-box and have my special birthday lunch at a Portland Food Cart. I know, sounds odd, but Portland is well-known for the culinary excellence of the food carts that grace their streets.
My choice? Bari Food Cart.
Here is a nice article you might enjoy reading about Walter. He is from the same town as my maternal grandfather. L’Italo-Americano article
Walter specializes in panzerotti and other Italian dishes. The panzerottis we ordered were so light and tasty. They were made of a light dough filled with cheese, and other ingredients of your choice briefly fried to perfection. There are sweet ingredient choices, as well as other Italian delights and desserts.
We had a blast, the food was beyond delicious, You’ll notice there are no photos of the food, because we inhaled it faster than I could whip out my phone to take a picture. Walter is a great chef, entertaining, and enthusiastic! If you are in the Portland area, this is a must!
