Catania and Beyond

Suitcases in hand (a firm grip I might add due to the instances of the last few days), we packed the car and were off.  A beautiful drive along the coast put us at ease that at last, our vacation was headed in the right direction. The agenda today was to see Termini Imerese and visit Jim’s relatives. Then continue down to Catania to meet up with Antimo who would take us to our boutique spa hotel for the next eight days.

Termini Imerese is a delightful small town by the sea that has the quaint charm you would imagine in Sicily. A church on the corner, several cafes, gelaterias, spectacular sea views, and much more. If only we had more time!

It amazes me the artistry of the locals in their coffee talents. The cream design stayed in the cappuccino cup until the last drop. Even their sidewalks were paved in stone patterns. And I finally found a Vespa I could drive! It had training wheels and was owned by the cutest little boy. I attempted to get his photo but he was too busy playing soccer with his dad.

We arrived at our destination Acireale Penthouse in Aci Castello and settled into our room. It is a beautiful boutique hotel with fantastic views.

We’re off to dinner by the sea. The rock formations are unbelievable. So happy we were able to capture some of them at sunset. Delightful seafood dinner with our fearless leader Antimo of Voomago.

Aaahhh…
