Beautiful flowers pave the way for May, along with budding trees and bushes, grasses and yes, weeds. We embrace the change of seasons as it signals summer is on its way in and winter is on the way out.
This month is an eclectic group of favorites, starting with a not so favorite of mine actually, fast food.
Fast Food Hacks. I’m not a fan of fast food by any means and avoid it even on road trips, although I do admit to stopping for a Starbucks coffee drink occasionally. While in the British Isles recently we saw McDonald’s everywhere – I was so surprised they were almost as prominent as pubs over there. Anyway, for those of you who do hit a fast food joint on occasion, this article seemed to have some good tips, including how to order free water at Starbucks!
Hidden Storage Spots. No matter how we try to pare down our belongings, there always seems to be a need for more storage. I convinced hubby that we didn’t need a coat closet because we only wore coats 6 months of the year and drank wine all year long, so the coat closet soon converted to a wine cellar. This article has several other good hiding places for storage should you need a place to store treasured items.
Change the way you grocery shop to make you a better cook. Really? Well this article seems to think so, and it has some good points. However, when I scrolled down and found Carla’s recipe for Omelet With Whipped Ricotta For Two – oh yeah, now you’re talking! (This post is a two-fer.)
Chocolate Mousse. This video shows how easy it is to make chocolate mousse with JUST a hunk of pure chocolate and water. Yes, I said water. A brilliant chemist Hervé This, the father of molecular gastronomy, discovered how to do it.
That’s it for this month. Recovered from our travels and focusing on book promotion for From Vine to Table: The Unexpected Joy of Zucchini’s Magic cookbook now that we are back in the U.S. Zucchini season is approaching!
